On Saturday, July 19th I joined with hundreds of Contra Costa County Makers at the Lafayette Library Learning Center. I put together a table that demonstrated many of the things you can do with today’s inexpensive microcontroller kits like Arduino & Raspberry Pi. This included a binary counting contraption I called the “Mega Byte”, an Arduino powered campfire, a plant monitor, as well as some other gadgets I’ve created for work & play.
While there, I had the opportunity to meet the people behind two Maker/Hacker spaces that are just this year forming in our area: M.A.C.H. 925 and Benicia Maker Space. I’m really excited that the Maker Movement beginning to expand outside of SF, Berkeley & Oakland!
